The book the film is based of deals with various problems that are a part of India. I liked the book more because of Thomas, because Jamal feels in the film just too clean. Also the love story in the film was not really needed. They just changed everything about the book in the film - this does not have to be a bad thing, however it just broke my heart to know how different the character of Salim is in the book compared to the film.

I can agree that the film was way more entertaining, the writing style of Vikas Swarup wasn't my taste... but the story was heartbreaking, touching and real.
